Résumé: As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, so do the risks we face. The COVID-19 pandemic has not stopped at national borders. It has affected people regardless of nationality, level of education, income or gender. But the same has not been true for its consequences, which have hit the most vulnerable hardest. Indeed, numerous countries around the world decided to close schools nationwide to prevent or contain the spread of the virus, significantly affecting the learning of millions of children and adolescents. The COVID-19 pandemic has also had a severe impact on higher education as universities closed their premises and countries shut their borders in response to lockdown measures. Although higher education institutions were quick to replace face-to-face lectures with online learning, these closures affected learning and examinations as well as the safety and legal status of international students in their host country. “Education During and Post COVID-19 world: The potential of Shifting from traditional learning approaches to virtual and remote course delivery” a new international Forum series produced by The College of Engineering in Gulf University. The Forum program will provide an opportunity from higher education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training practitioners from Gulf University lectures beside participants from Kingdom of Bahrain and overseas to discuss on the opportunities and challenges of emergency remote teaching based on experiences of the COVID-19 emergency. In Addition, through these Forums we aim to also discuss and share best practices in quality online higher education delivery, quality assessment policies and innovative approaches for online education beyond the current pandemic situation. In dealing with current situation, the landscape of teaching and learning in higher education has experienced major changes and challenges. In order to adapt in this situation, the Forum program is targeting participants from the level of policy-makers to practitioners and students as the main stakeholders.
